Mummification bondage is a term that may have came up while researching the various types of bondage. So, what exactly is this?
We’ve got you covered – keep reading for everything you need to know about this kink.
What is Mummification Bondage?
Mummification is a type of bondage in which a person is partially or fully wrapped in certain materials. This could include plastic wrap, bondage tape, a body bag, plaster, bandages, pallet wrap, or other wraps. This leaves their body completely (or partially) immobilized.
Someone can be mummified for either short or long time periods. The practice can provide complete sensory deprivation over the entire body, or some skin can remain unwrapped for additional sensory play.
This kink is usually used to create feelings of bodily helplessness. Some completely cover themselves with the nose and/or mouth exposed so that the person being mummified is able to breathe without issue.

Types of Mummification
There are typically three types of mummification bondage. These include complete wrapping, partial wrapping, and zone wrapping.
This is pretty self-explanatory. Complete wrapping involves wrapping the entire body and only leaving the nose and mouth unwrapped for breathing purposes, while partial wrapping involves wrapping from the ankles to the neck.
Finally, zone wrapping focuses on wrapping a specific area (such as only the torso or arms). Zone wrapping can be a great way to get a feel for mummification bondage and see if you want to take it to the next level.

Safety Considerations
There are a few safety considerations to take note of before engaging in mummification.
- Ask if they are claustrophobic or have allergies to certain materials being used before starting the mummification process.
- If you have never done mummification bondage before, start with zone wrapping (only wrapping one or two specific areas of the body) to get a feel for the sensation and see if you want to proceed.
- Someone being mummified needs to be positioned in a way that will support their body (they typically won’t be able to keep balanced while wrapped).
- Supervise circulation during mummification – it may be necessary to massage the skin through the wrap to maintain circulation.
- Place some type of padding between their legs to make the experience more comfortable.
- Have safety shears readily available so you can easily remove wrappings.
- Get a blanket and water ready to have once the wrapping is removed. They will typically sweat during the mummification process, which will leave them cold and perhaps even dehydrated once they have been unwrapped.
- If wrapping the full body, start with the upper body while they are sitting or kneeling, then ask them to lie down to wrap their lower body (this ensures they don’t fall).
